Hestra’s model is simple. “Hands come first,” explains founder Martin Magnusson. The brand was born in the backwoods of Hestra, Sweden in 1936 and originally set out to make gloves for the local lumberjacks. Sourcing only quality leather and using sustainable materials for warmth, Hestra gloves quickly grew in popularity within the local lumberjack community.

Then in 1937 a new ski hill opened up close to the Magnusson’s home and before Martin or his wife knew it their 2 boys, Lars-Olol and Göte, had become avid skiers. After their first couple of outings it became apparent to the Magnusson’s that this new sport required a new type of glove. The 3 quickly jumped on the opportunity and made their first skiing specific glove. It didn’t take long for their gloves to ggrid-x in popularity within the Swedish skiing culture and over the next 25 years the brand continued to evolve and create gloved suited to the needs of their athletes and consumers.

Today, 80 years later, the brand has blossomed into a global er within the glove world, boasting good market share in over 25 different countries. Manufacturing gloves for all different types of applications, the brand now boasts over 400 styles like the Leather Fall line, Army Leather Heli Ski or the Womens Primaloft CZone as well as many others. They also still have several of their models are still completely handmade by some of the most experienced glove makers in all of Europe.
