Kevin Sansalone’s connection to the whistler’s snowboard culture runs deep. Being a product of North Vancouver, Kevin used to take the train up from Vancouver during the 1990’s to slash as much Whistler POW as one teenager could over the weekends. By the time he finally was able to call whistler home, in 1998, Kevin was already a household name in the Snowboard World.
After winning the first ever X-Games Big Air title in 1999, Kevin along with some friends started Sandbox Production. Over the next 4 years the crew created lots of memorable videos like Now You Know and used the videos as a way to help showcase some of Canada’s brightest snowboard talents. It was when filming for some of his video projects that Kevin saw the need for a more stylish level of protection and decided to get into the Helmet game.
Over the next 3 years, bringing us to 2007, Kevin designed and redesigned his idea until he was ready to launch the newly created Sandbox Helmet Classic. With their unique brim and stylish color ways, Sandbox Helmets were an instant hit in the snowboard scene. Today Sandbox Helmets have expanded into the wake, skate and bike worlds as well as offering a full selection of goggles, sun glasses, soft goods and accessories. They even offer a line of kid’s helmets, simply called kids snow.
Kevin, and his team at Sandbox, understands that the action sports game is constantly changing and progressing, and with them, the riders need for safety, comfort and style. Having their head office located in Whistler’s White Gold neighbourhood, allows Kevin to both keep his finger on the pulse of the snowboard scene in Whistler as well as test his newest products on one of the worlds best ski resorts.
